Moving Cornwall Forward

The Town of Cornwall and Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson were awarded $4.5 million through the New York Forward (NYF) program to create more walkable, sustainable, resilient, and eocnomically robust downtown areas. After 2 Public Workshops and 5 Local Planning Committee (LPC) Meetings, Cornwall has finalized a slate of proposed projects (see the table at the bottom of this page) that it will submit to New York State in November 2023 as part of a Strategic Investment Plan. \A multiagency State team will review each project and award funding to a subset of the projects submitted.

About the NYF Program

NYF launched in 2022 to invigorate and enliven downtowns in New York’s smaller and rural communities—the type of downtowns found in villages, hamlets, and other small, neighborhood-scale municipal centers. Similar to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), and with Department of State planning and implementation support, NYF communities develop a Strategic Investment Plan with a slate of readily implementable projects needed to attract more businesses, residents, and visitors, while also providing a higher quality of life for all residents.
